We are advancing towards winter and during these magical days of autumn that the Mediterranean provides, we find a Majorca<\/strong> full of possibilities to be able to enjoy everything throughout the year. The beaches are wonderful, you can walk and relax even though the time for bathing has finished and the villages find again the vitality of routines. Between them, the harvest and “sobrassada” (Majorcan sausage)<\/strong> production are the protagonists, creating a calendar of essential gastronomic delights.
\nIt is the time for mushrooms, wine, pumpkins, rice soup, Majorcan bread soup with vegetables and stew. The islands’ kitchens fill with delicious products picked from the farms that are amongst the most productive in Spain. For this reason, Majorcan farmers celebrate gastronomic fairs in various places throughout the island in order to promote their produce with locals and tourists.
\nThe Dijous Bo in Inca, celebrated at the end of last month was one of the great events of this type, followed by many more and permitting a complete route of the most emblematic villages of the island, from Alcudia to Palma,<\/strong> a city which also has its own gastronomic events which should not be missed, such as the “martiana tapas” route in the centre, Santa Catalina or the San Juan gastro-market in the S’Excorsador neighbourhood.
\nSome essentials are the “Sa Perdiu” (Partridge) fair at Montuiri, the almond milk fair at Pla de Na Tessa in Marratxi and the great Sant Tomas fair where your can try sobrassada in Sineu and you will find both gastronomy, livestock and the sale of traditional food.
