The group of islands of Cabrera is situated about an hour away from Majorca in the Balearic islands. It is a paradise for many colonies of sea birds and offers one of the best preserved sea-floors of our coast. The archipelago constitutes one of the unaltered natural ecosystems of the Mediterranean.<\/p>\n

From the Colonia de Sant Jordi there are different boat rips available to visit the small island. During the journey you can discover the wonders of this archipelago and , if the weather is good, enjoy a dip in the “Cova Blava”.<\/p>\n

The “Cova Blava” Blue Cove, a paradisaical experience of crystalline waters, cliffs ….. a marvellous experience for those who know how to appreciate the beauty of nature.<\/p>\n

Cabrera has a small port from which we can visit the island and from its old castle visitors can enjoy a marvellous panoramic view of the island itself and Majorca.<\/p>\n

During the 8th<\/sup> and 9th<\/sup> centuries the island of Cabrera and its port were used by Berber pirates as a base from which to attack the Majorcan coast. For this reason, as early as the 14th century, a castle was built at the entrance to the port.<\/p>\n

At the beginning of 1988, promoted by a large movement and an environmentalist-popular campaign mentored by Greenpeace, the Balearic Parliament decided to start the process for the declaration of Cabrera as National Marine Land Park, which was held on 29 April. 1991 with its legal declaration of protection in the form of law 14\/1991.<\/p>\n

In Cabrera you can also visit a small museum that was once a winery. On some of these boat trips, we are sometimes visited by inhabitants of the marine reserve who are very friendly & great fun: the bottlenose dolphins !! Manys a time they come close to the boats and delight us with their characteristic pirouettes in the air!!<\/p>\n
