Conference ‘Sustainable Tourism: a competitive strategy’

Protur Hotels is taking part in the conference ‘Sustainable Tourism: a competitive strategy’ that will take place in the TRUI Teatre Palma on June 7th at 6 pm, as part of the celebration of the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development. The event is being organised by the ATB (The Tourism Agency of the Balearic Islands) and the Club Última Hora.

The conference will be imparted by Juan Verde, a prestigious adviser in international economy and sustainability. He is the head of the Climate Change project led by Al Gore and has collaborated with Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. He graduated in Political Science & International Relations from Boston University and also has degrees from Harvard and Georgetown.

Following the presentation by Juan Verde there will be a round table that will centre on the challenges of and opportunities for sustainable tourism in the Balearic Islands that will boast, in addition to the participation of Juan Verde, that of the director the ATB Pere Muñoz, the director of Climate Change Joan Groizard and the CEO of Protur Hotels Jaime Nebot. The journalist of the newspaper Ültima Hora, Nekane Domblás, will be the moderator.

The vice-president of the Balearic government & tourism minister, Biel Barceló, will present the proceedings and the closing speech will be given by the President of the Balearic government Francina Armengol and the president of Grup Serra, Carmen Serra.
