“ Sonrisa Médica ” has one GOAL; to improve a hospital environment with one of the best possible medecines: LAUGHTER. Through music, magic & humour they awaken emotions, lighten tensions not just for those staying in hospital but also for their families and the hospital staff, so that laughter forms part of the healing process.
“Sonrisa Médica” is a point of reference in the Balearic Islands as regards the impulse of clown methodology to ease the trauma of hospitalisation. Humanity, Profesionalism, Eficiency & a team spirit are the values that define this non-profit NGO.
Thirteen CLOWNS make up this team of professionals who constantly and consistently work in collaboration with the hotel personel- “Sonrisa Médica, pioneer in Spain, was declared a “Public Utility” by the Spanish Home Office in 2004.
For this reason, and for the second successive year, Protur Hotels again wants to contribute to this worthy cause. Through Protur Philanthropy and during the first week of September we have organised different events to raise money for the clowns.
In each hotel we organised a spectacular theme buffet with clowns, ambulances etc…
All our staff and guests showed great interest and took part in this fun filled proyect. At the Protur Biomar Gran Hotel & Spa ***** during the typical Al fresco dining we organised a solidarity mini market. At the rest of the hotels, guests could partake of “Sonrisa Médica” cocktails or Solidarity Sangría! There were even alcohol-free cocktails so that our junior guests could also do their bit.
Protur Philanthropy also celebrated in a big way the campaign “Red Nose Day” in collaboration with the FEHM (Hotel Business Federation of Mallorca)
We would like to say a big thank you to our guests and all our staff for their dedication and contribution and to the “ Sonrisa Médica” for all their efforts & committment to all patients. They are responsible for making otherwise delicate moments much more bearable.
